There are times when a patient becomes pregnant while taking opiate drugs, or while in the MAT program. Sunrise Treatment Center is fortunate to have developed a close working relationship with the TriHealth HOPE program, but we also work with other community OB/GYN physicians. The safety of the newborn is paramount and we have seen studies that show the added safety of Subutex (buprenorphine) over that of methadone. Most notably, these studies demonstrate that the babies born to mothers on buprenorphine have better opiate withdrawal scores than those whose mother was on methadone.

Our physicians have extensive experience working with pregnant women. We understand the challenges that women face as they go through the advancing trimesters. Medications can be adjusted as their metabolism changes.

Buprenorphine has also been shown to be safe for those mothers who want to breast-feed their baby.
