There are times when a patient becomes pregnant while active in addiction, or while in treatment. Sunrise Treatment Center has developed close working relationships with multiple high-risk pregnancy providers around each of its locations to be able to continue treatment during this special time.
Fortunately studies demonstrate that babies born to mothers on buprenorphine have better opiate withdrawal scores, require less treatment while in the hospital, and have shorter hospital stays than those whose mother was on methadone.
Our physicians have extensive experience working with pregnant women with opiate use disorder, and carefully monitor and adjust treatment medications to match the needs to the moms and babies as they go through advancing trimesters.
Buprenorphine has also been shown to be safe for those mothers who want to breast-feed their baby.
