As we near the end of PRIDE month, we couldn’t be happier about the opportunities that we’ve had to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community in the various communities in which we serve. This past weekend, Sunrise participated in the Cincinnati PRIDE Festivities celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community (pictured above). We also participated in PRIDE activities in Northern Kentucky and Dayton. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the staff and community organizers who made these events possible!
This month was also an opportunity to reflect on the barriers those in the LGBTQIA+ community face on a daily basis. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse and surveys conducted by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, LGBTQIA+ individuals often enter treatment with more severe substance use disorders. At Sunrise, we want our patients and staff to know that they are seen, heard, loved, and supported.
